Can I Still File My Taxes?

Clock to symbolize filing taxes after due date

Now that Tax Day has officially passed, with personal income tax returns due on April 15th, those who haven’t filed yet will undoubtedly be wondering: is it too late to file?

The short answer is: no, it is not too late. But, since the due date has passed, there are important things you need to consider.

You can still file

It is important to note that you can still file. We will be open all year by appointment for those who want to file but missed the deadline. It is still possible to submit your 2025 taxes and for any prior years you may have missed.

You can also submit your forms electronically on our site to have us prepare your taxes that way.

What happens if I file late?

If you file your taxes after the tax deadline, there may potentially be consequences. The sooner your file your taxes after the deadline, the better.

However, if you are expecting to receive a tax refund then there are few consequences to filing after the deadline has passed.

If you believe you will end up owing money to the IRS, it is important that you speak to a tax professional as soon as possible. When you file your taxes late and are owing money, you can face penalties for late filing as well as interest on the money owed.

What do I need?

In order to file your taxes, you will need to bring with you proper identification like your Social Security Card and ID. You will also need any tax documents you were given during the year, such as a W2 or 1099.

If you own a business or are self-employed, you will want to bring with you the income you had for your business as well as receipts or bank statements to show the expenses you had for your business.

Please also note that if you file your business taxes separately from your personal, the due date would have been before on March 15th for your business, and will also need to be filed as soon as possible.

Come and file

So, if you still haven’t filed your 2025 income tax return, now might be a good time to do so. Reach out to us to schedule an appointment or file your taxes remotely as soon as possible to avoid any IRS penalties or fees.
